To rebuild or replace V6
Belated Congrats on the new old boat! You did better than me as mine cost $500 on eBay plus a road trip to Missouri from Boston, MA. Does your motor look like the one in the photo attachment? If so it is a Buick 225CID. The photo is from my restored 1971 Custom 17' (picture also included) designed b...

Drive shaft bearing repair
I've just completed my own repair of the same sort on my 1971 Lancer with a Buick V6 and Volvo-Penta 250 outdrive. Here's a couple of attached photos. Also, Doug Russel Marine has a great exploded diagram, here's the link: http://www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/volvo_omc/index.cfm?fuseaction=comp&g...

Cooling system alternative
Thanks Don. I've investigated the cooling system set-up and I cannot find something that will also take care of the manifolds. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the systems available are "partial" and will only serve the engine. This seems odd and I don't understand how you can only get partial...

Raw water intake
Hi guys- great story. If you do buy the boat Luther, you could add a thru hull fitting and a "Y" diverter valve inside (along with additional hose). This would allow you to switch from the out-drive water pick-up to the thru-hull fitting for shallow water use (like at start up and return to dock). I...

Closed cooling system possible?
Hi all. Has anyone successfully installed a closed cooling system? I've got a Buick V6 225 "odd-firing" engine in my 1971 Lancer. The boat has spent its entire life in fresh water but I've got to use it in the ocean. The engine and original Chris Craft manifolds are in great condition and I want to ...

Rub rail
Thanks. They have a great selection of EPDM rubber rub-rails and rub-rail inserts at WEFCO. However it is an aluminum extrusion specifically that I am looking for. I may however get both from WEFCO as a temporary measure for this damaged sectin until I can find the aluminum I need.

Outdrive boot
Hi. I was on the phone yesterday with Gene of www.bobsmarinesalvage.com (a.k.a. genesmarinesalvage.com- go figure)and he described the boot you are looking for. He (Gene) may be aware of the NAPA marine catalog however and is simply re-selling theirs. I'm looking for a boot for my 1964 Corsair which...

1964 Corsair floor construction
Hi all. I've got a 16.5' Corsair that I'm in the process of readying for use this summer (remainder) and long term restoration. I've got some flex in the floor in the dead center of the cockpit which I suspect is delamination. Bill Basler mentioned in another thread that he was restoring "The Blue B...

16' Corsair 1964
See my earlier post with pictures. It appears I might have one out of Cortland NY. It too has interior badging similar to that shown above in this thread (Thompson/Chris Craft of Cortland).

1964 Corsair with I/O drive- need guidance
Hi all. I'm a new member searching for info that might help me in my efforts to restore a recently purchased 1964 Corsair (hull #ORAZ 16 6040N) with an OMC I/O drive (#W28599, model SU 13E) mated to a GM 4cyl block (#3849449 CON F234)with dual carbs. It came with a Holsclaw Trailer (model C-1700, st...
