Insurance

To add a little food for thought to the subject of insurance. I have Hagerty on my finished boats(users) and also on my Century Coronado which is being restored. My Classic Corvette ( 1971 22,000 actual miles - 1 owner) is also insured thru Hagerty, so if you have other toys you might wany to talk t...

Kit Boat

Jim - If you bought this kit boat in central Iowa recently and it has a Johnson Javlen motor with a Reliance Trailer it would possibly be the one I sold in Clear Lake Iowa a few years back. Let me know.

Trailers

Well I just had a senior moment in my last post. I meant LOADMASTER Trailers in Ohio not Trailmaster. The only thing about getting my age is that now I can hide my own Easter Eggs. Don J

Trailer options

You might check out Midwest Industries again and ask if the brothers still own Eagle Trailers, if they do they make very good custom trailers. Another good thing about this partnership is they deliver right across our HAWKEYE state and delivery is much easier. You might also check with Trailmaster i...

Graymarine exhaust manifolds

I have a 59 Century Coronado with the 327 AMC engine that has Graymarine Exhaust Manifolds with 3 bolt caps. I need two of these to complete the overhaul. If anyone can help me find these parts or information on whom bought the Graymarine castings I would be very happy :P

Changing Carbs on an AMC 327 Fireball V-8

I have a AMC 327 Fireball V8 with 2 side draft carbs in a 1959 Century. With the history of these carbs and leakage I was thinking of swapping out to a 4bbl intake manifold and a new marine Holly . I have found a 1958 AMC intake manifold and wondered what problems I might encounter in this switch?

Boat Dollies and Wooden Boats

I have a 21' Century Coronado on a trailer longer than my work space. I need some feedback on the use of boat dollies to support thr boat while I finish the top sides. The bottom is new and done very well. I was looking at the Hostar dollies and wondered if 2 of these would work and how long could a...

Boat storage in Mid Florida

After years of Iowa winters we visited Mt. Dora this past week and this is the area we are going to relocate to when we retire. I need to know the best way to store our woodies in the summer(in Florida) when we are up north. Also srorage during the winter time when we will be boating down there. Sto...

Slow cranking Chris

After many years of use I have a problem with the starting system on my 1959 Chris with the 283 V8. The engine turns over slower and after a few cranks it will not turn over for a short time. I have been told that it gets too warm (starter) and then cools down and cranks again. I had the starter tor...

Engine startup

What are some tips on starting a Graymarine 327 engine that has set for 10 years? It turns over freely by hand and was stored correctly at the time of last use. It has 160 hours on it. Thanks in advance Don J.

Century Boats disassembly

Are there any articles or how to books on taking apart Century boats? I am about to disassemble my 1960 Century Coronado and have found very little information on this subject, It took me all evening just to figure out how best to remove the hardtop. I have Don Dannenberg's books but I would like to...

:) Every wooden boater should have a Century in the garage! I have a 1960 Coronado that I had to have when I saw one of the gaudiest looking boats in history. Yes the Century boats are a little weaker in hulls and transoms but when restored properly they will last like Chris Crafts. They are a boat ...

Ah - Chris Craft Aquahome. I purchased a 1969 34' model a few years ago and found out that the cabin sides were made of the outside glass skin glued to the interior paneling. After pouring more money into it (more than my wife will ever know) I gave up and sold it to another dreamer. There are two s...

Steve - I have been swinging between a Eagle or Loadmaster trailer for my 21' Coronado and wondered what dealer you went thru to purchase. I'm in eastern Iowa and there is no one close to me. I tried the Yacht Club dealers and they aren't interested in talking inboard trailers. I think you are right...
