Greetings and welcome aboard. SeaSkiffs don't leak! If they do there is a problem that needs attention. I've worked on quite a few 'Skiffs including my own and I can tell you that the Thiokol that ChrisCraft used is practically bulletproof so if you are getting water inside it's most likely a proble...

There are MANY cheaper places to purchase the Fein Multimaster than jamestown. There are a few knock-off brands of this tool but none are as good as the original, spend the difference and get the genuine article and you will be pleased with the results.

Hi Phil,
I'm all for originality but from someone in fresh water my opinion is that it's not worth the extra cash. If you're in salt water or showing the boat the only choice is silicon bronze.

The one major consideration is that when you operate a 32 volt motor on 24 volts the amperage draw will increase putting the motor windings in an overcurrent condition.

Any competent marina in the area should be able to re-jet your carb for the elevation. If you can't find that, your next stop would be an experienced engine builder and if they can't do it they will indeed know who can, those guys travel together.

There are always things to change when doing an engine swap but when you switch types of fuel the list grows. I'm hoping one of the more experienced gear heads chime in but what comes to mind for me would be things like water pick-ups (larger), exhaust(larger), shafts, struts, props, stuffing boxes(...

As long as the bleed hole is kept clear and the rubber hose that connects the scoop to the siphon tube is in good condition these self bailers work great. Hey Bill, ...

Hi Jeff, You are correct...one line from the oil cooler goes to the hole in the side of the block and the other goes to the rearward side of the T. The front side of the T goes to the oil pressure gauge. The pictures aren't great but you get the idea. Craig http://s4.postimage.org/33r4oj0bo/141.jpg ...

I agree with Mark,
Always change the oil before lay-up regardless of number of hours on the oil. You don't want any contaminants in the oil to hang around in the engine for extended periods.

If you're looking for originality and want to replace Autolite with Autolite I would contact member Jim Staib (Dr Rot). If you are not looking to retain originality and just want it to run then any GM small block V8 distributor without vacuum advance will work.

Having several trailers under my belt I offer the opinion that for the size boat you have, 2"X 4"X 1/8" would be perfect. Anything less such as 2"X 3" is too flexible. You could go a little thinner wall thickness if weight is a consideration but it sure does make a solid trailer.

I just found the old siphon tube in a bucket of parts in the shop attic.
The hole admits a #56 drill bit perfectly, that's .046 inch.

If you haven't changed the plug wires yet that is absolutely the next step. When you see arcs to ground that means the spark is getting to ground without going through the spark plugs.

Gary's right, You're just shooting a straight line from point A to point B regardless of whether anything is level. Level down the sides doesn't matter, you're after a straight line. just shoot a laser line from a point at the bow to a point at the stern which of course will be perfectly straight. In the case of the stern, again level doesn't matter, you just need a straight line that appears level with respect t...
