Russ Arrand uses this technique with very nice results. This is now being done more and more on transoms to always have a seem free look because you never get plank edge separation. Russ even has some neat clamps to make life easier. Email him and he will send you some photos.

As I said in the post use a Napa Gold filter to be sure.

Also all top quality filters such as Napa have a built in bypass just in case some sludge were to be in there and break lose and clog.

Fred you can throw that oil cooler away, its not needed with modern day oils. It does more harm than good as your oil needs to reach "operating" temp to be effective.

Remember any time you heat copper you may permanently lose what tensile strength you have in the tube. It can not be quenched with oil or water to harden. This is why when I have an exhaust pipe bent, I only heat the bend area and as you stretch the pipe it will re harden that area.

I did not mean for my reply to sound like that but I have seen quite a few concave spray rails. And I have seen quite a few with rot in the trailing edge in that area.

As Joanroy suggest, any compound that will come apart as spray rails are sacrificial items on a boat and are replaced as needed.

Check with Dannenberg,

Always bed spray rails in bedding compound or they will trap water and be an area for rot. Never bed metal rub rails, as this is an area where water will drain from, also cut waters should not be bedded for drainage.

I only apply two coats over the deck stripes. Additional coats will start to yellow the white out, and I use 96 most times.

Jon, contact Pat Cruise, at "Crusine Classics" in Mooresville NC. He ONLY does epoxy restorations for 30 years. And he does them correctly.

Another option would be to cold mold all the way and come back with a laminate router and put that small V-Grove in the sides. Just another option. If not make sure you edge bead 5200 to that first plank joint above the waterline.

Jo, Because the boat is a painted hull I would go all the way to the gunnels with a cold mold epoxy hull, as that is what they did at Ynot's with there boat. Check out there web site, the R&W is listed there as "Eulipion" and she is a heck of a boat.
