I have the silver welt . You can get it from most , Auto upholstery shop , Provided they have it. Or you may have to purchase the complete roll of 250 feet. Be aware it comes in different thickness. The picture looks like a Twlight 56-Crous . it is made by naugahyde a good maker. You can look on line at Burch Fabrics Group, their hospitality /resi/healthcare/marine/recreation vehicles. The page is vin24 . do not use on floor. should work well on any seats. They are very nice and will send a cut...

I am with Jim . The original vinyl was plain non expanded vinyl. Much thinner than todays expanded vinyls. Been doing upholstery for 40 plus years and it you cover and keep clean it will last longer than vinyls made today. Is there any stamped print on back cloth of vinyl. as a rule American made vi...

It has been my experience that most thin pad under all Chris Crafts vinyl over wood was a cotton , called coach wadding. I will tell you where to find it very easy . Go to most any HOME SEWING STORE AND ASK FOR BED SPREAD BATTING . It comes in a couple types get the 100% cotton check the size , some...

Try any upholstery shop that buys from keystone brothers they carry a couple styles . most states have a keystone for shops or try their online catalogue then find a shop to make order for you. you can look but only resale customers can purchase. hope this helps.

I , belive it would be called by another name today , but the color is the important factor . I have had some luck using American beauty ,or torchfire , or cutlass420. I would say you should take a sample of the old vinyl to a auto upholstery shop . See if they have any sample books , should have at...

I have had some success for boat windows at a glass shop. you could look online for a good substitute . If that has no luck , try a foam web site you most likely need a closed cell foam, I have used the materials from a wet suit on one project .good luck hope this helps you to find what you need .

Re: A Flooring Conundrum

I always used a contact cement using a paint gun with a quart bottle . The only way to attach them was to pull the floor screws and cut small holes in the new covering. then new washers and screws use as few as possible and a good spacing is important .If you leave it loose it will lift , slide and ...

Re: Headliner - Foam back or no foam

USE ANYTHING OTHER THAN FOAMED BACK . JUST LOOK IN A COUPLE OLDER CARS AND SEE IT HANGING DOWN LIKE A BALLON. HEAT MAKES THE FOAM ROT AND THEN THE FABRIC SEAPERATES FROM THE FOAM. YOU WILL HAVE AIR QUALITY PROBLEMS LATTER WHEN THE FOAM DUST GETS A WIND . I HAVE BEEN DOING UPHOLSTERY SINCE 1973 AND Y...

The aft back rest is a plywood board cut to shape of opening . It rest on the aft cushion riser and hooks over 2 cleats just under deck level . TWO HOLES WILL NEED TO BE CUT OUT TA ACCEPT THE HOOKS/CLEATS .Should be some evidence of the location on the boat inner transom top board. CUT IT SMALLER SI...

Hidem, is best installed when warm and the trick is to pull the hidem rather than lay it in corners . Since the inside curve is smaller than the outer you must pull the hidem a bit to compensate for the gather at inside edge. Also put two rows of staples inside at corners pushing the welt cords apar...

I do not know who sells that style . But i do know the original boat tacks for American boats were blue tacks just every day tacks. they will hold up just fine in your boat if any concers once in place wipe with a oil rag then hang seat. I have redone boats after 80 years and the tacks were fine, so...

Re: Need help with final touch on Capri Interior

Oh , some problems arise when the vinyl is cut in the wrong direction from the roll. The vinyl has more stretch across the roll than up the roll. CUT THE CRASH PAD UP THE ROLL OR RAILROADED. All the vinyl for crash pad is cut in the same direction up the roll. this allows for more stretch to get aro...
